Important Dates:
February 17-February 23: HAC is open to enter Course Requests
February 24 - March 8: Counselor Verification Meetings (as needed and/or requested)
March 1: Turn in COMPLETED Course Selector Sheet during Homeroom

Please reach out to your student's current school counselor with any questions about the process.  Counselors will be holding Connect Sessions for individual questions on February 1, 8, and 22.  Students may also request a meeting with their counselor via email or stopping by our offices.

Junior year is a big year for students and parents, so we hope you will be able to join us for the following events:

• 3/8 - The College Fair where students/parents can meet with 100+ college representatives will be held at MHS from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Incoming 7th Graders

We are so excited to welcome your children to our building next year. All core content classes (Language Arts, Science Social Studies, Math) are loaded for the students.  Students select electives.

Incoming 5th Graders

Parent preferencing for students going to 5th grade next year will begin Wednesday, March 1st at 10:00 am and end on Sunday, March 12th at 11:59 pm.  

Parents will still have the ability to choose a friend or choose teams. 

Honors Math placement in 5th grade can’t be determined until all MAP math assessments are completed in 4th grade.  MI administration will look through the scores and determine who qualifies for honors math.  Parents do not need to request honors math.  Honors math placement will be communicated to parents by late June.

Incoming 6th Graders

The parent preferencing for teachers in 6th grade will begin Wednesday, March 1st at 10:00am and end on Sunday, March 12th at 11:59pm.  Parents will have the ability to choose a friend or choose 5 teams.  
  
All students going into 6th grade will need to choose if they want to participate in Band or Orchestra, students do not have to choose Band or Orchestra.  Band and Orchestra will be held during FLEX next year and not as a part of the specials rotation.  Students in 6th grade will take the following specials next year:  Art, PE, Mindful Makers (STEAM), Coding and Creating and Choir/Music.  Every student in 6th grade will take those 5 specials.  

Students who choose Band or Orchestra, will attend during their FLEX bell twice a week, on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.  They will also attend one Friday class per month.

Incoming 3rd and 4th Graders

Parent preferencing for students going to 3rd grade next year will begin Wednesday, March 1st at 10:00 am and end on Sunday, March 12th at 11:59 pm.  

Our school team will also use current academic and social-emotional data to facilitate a great placement for your Comet Learner.  Parents will have the ability to:

• Principal pick - The administration will use the information we have to place your Comet.

OR 

• Families can preference six teachers/teams for your Comet. 

OR 

• Families can reference a friend that your Comet would like to share the same recess/lunch 
   

Families will not be able to request a friend AND request 6 teachers/teams.

Please use the teacher description information if you would like to share some possible classroom teacher names with us. If you choose to share names with us, remember that this input is taken into consideration as our administrative team creates classes. Be advised that this information is not considered in any rank order.
