Extended Care | Homework Club

In the Extended Care program, children have the convenience of care right in their elementary schools, allowing them to easily participate in developmentally appropriate school activities. Each school site is equipped with toys, games, arts and craft materials and homework supplies.

Experienced staff members will provide students with a variety of planned activities, special projects and enrichment opportunities. 

The Extended Care days of operation coincide with the Mason City Schools calendar.  The Extended Care program opens at 6:30am until school begins (session one) and after school ends until 6:00pm (session two). Daily snacks are provided in the morning and afternoon.

Comet Care for Kindergartners

Comet Care is extended day care for Mason Early Childhood Center kindergarten students before and/or after their kindergarten session at MECC.  Comet Care staff work with students to cultivate kindergarten learning with themed weeks, activities, crafts, and group activities.

After School Enrichment Programs

The After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) provides fun after school activities for students. Classes are offered at different times throughout the school year. Students who sign up for a class will be asked to pay a fee to help cover the expenses of the program.  Class offerings are based on student interest and instructor availability. ASEP’s goal is to provide added student enrichment, improve self-esteem, provide a positive and safe environment, and allow all participants to interact socially after school hours.
