Mason City Schools have been named Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence by the US Department of Education, and the district has an "A+" on the Niche ranking - one of the best school districts in the nation.  The Comets have captured the prestigious GMC All-Sports Trophy every year since entering the Greater Miami Conference in 2007, and the Wm. Mason High School Marching Band has been recognized as one of the premiere marching band programs in the country - consistently ranked as a Bands of America Grand Nationals finalist.

Mason City Schools educates the community's children in grade-level schools: an Early Childhood Center (PK-2), Elementary School (3-4), Intermediate School (5-6), Middle School (7-8) and High School (9-12).
