9 MMS Students Receive 11 Awards at Scholastic Art and Writing Competition

Nine Mason Middle School students received 11 awards at this year's 2020 Scholastics Regional Art and Writing Competition.

The artwork of Mason Middle School students Somya Manglore and Ava Yungbluth was accepted into the prestigious 2020 Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition.

“The works of Somya and Ava captured the attention of the judges this year with their innovative and expressive creations.  Both of these exceptional young artists will be honored during an awards ceremony for their outstanding work.  Somya and Ava will each receive their first Honorable Mention Award.  They should be extremely proud of their accomplishments" shared MMS Art Educator Rita Shriver-Schehr

Both of these MMS artists will be honored for their outstanding work during an awards ceremony on February 21 at the School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati. Their works can be viewed at the 2020 Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition displayed at the Art Academy of Cincinnati from February 10-February 21.

Other students receiving awards in the Art Competition Silver Key winners are eighth grader Rena Li and seventh graders Vivian Chang and Ramya Rajan.  Receiving Honorable Mention are eighth graders Sophie Wang who won two awards.

In the Writing Competition MMS eight grader Nithilaa Ramachandhran received Gold Key, eighth grader Edward Li received a Silver Key and Srinidhi Valathappan received a Silver Key and Honorable Mention.
