
Three Mason High School students earned superior awards at the 70th Annual State Science Day on May 12 at the Ohio State University French Field House and St. John Arena.
Senior
Siddharth Barve, freshman
Sanchita Paranthaman, and sophomore
Anant Ramji all earned a Superior for their individual projects.
Barve's project
Stress Sensing using Piezoelectrics also earned the Engineering Achievement Award and $100, and a $1,250 scholarship from winning the Governor's Thomas Edison Award for Advanced or Alternative Energy.
Paranthaman's project the
Role of Probiotics in Enhancing Memory and Weight Loss in Mice earned second place in the Governor's Thomas Edison Award for Advanced or Alternative Energy and a $750 scholarship. He also won $150 in the Osteopathic Medical Award, and $500 in the Future Physician - Scientist Award.
Ramji's project
Testing for Allergens in Foods took first place and won $500 in the American Chemical Society Columbus Section, and also won the $500 Future Physician - Scientist Award.
Mason Middle School eighth grader
Hritika Santosh Kotian received a Superior for her project titled, Effect of Electric Charge on Gel Electrophoresis.
