Journey to 2030

We're excited to watch our commUNITY chart a course for the future of Mason City Schools over the next decade and beyond.

Tradition in Mason is rooted in a continuous quest to give Mason Comets outstanding opportunities to make sure they are prepared for their future. We had many opportunities over the last few years to lean on our three Big Rocks of Culture, Inclusive Excellence and Personalized Learning, and will use them to help guide our journey.  For many years, a key Mason commitment from boards of education and leadership teams has been to engage the community, and we're excited to watch our community chart a course for the future of Mason City Schools over the next decade and beyond.  Now more than ever, learning experiences for our students must not only provide for the acquisition of rigorous academic content, but must also foster critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and other future-ready skills and mindsets our students need to thrive.

2025 & beyond

Mason's Portrait of a Learner influences the LEARNING & LIFE EXPERIENCES available to all Comet Kids.

2025 & beyond

Mason's Portrait of a Learner influences the FACILITIES & RESOURCES needed to help all Comet Kids achieve their highest potential.

We are actively engaging diverse perspectives from our staff, students, and broader community in developing a Portrait of a Learner, a collective vision that articulates our shared aspirations for every student.

Here's what we're asking!

1. What are the hopes, aspirations, and dreams that our community has for our young people?
2. What are the skills and mindsets that our children need for success in this rapidly changing and complex world?
3. What are the implications for the learning experiences we provide in our school systems?
