Mason High School senior Lauren Van Kleunen was recognized as The Kiwanis Club of Mason's March Student of the Month. Van Kleunen was nominated by MHS Science teacher Randy Hubbard.
"Lauren is a tremendous young lady. She is setting a strong example of how to be a true student-athlete. Lauren is not only one of the best women's basketball players in the state, but she is also a tremendous student who works hard every day both in the classroom and on the court. Lauren is a true example of what a student and an athlete should be," shared Hubbard.
The starting center on the state runner-up MHS basketball team, Van Kleunen will play basketball at Marquette University in the fall.
On March 17, the Kiwanis Club presented Van Kleunen with $50 and a certificate commemorating her achievement. Van Kleunen's parents, Mark and Lu Anne Van Kleunen, assistant principal Kevin Mays, and nominating teacher Hubbard joined the Kiwanians in recognizing Van Kleunen's accomplishments. The Mason Kiwanis Club meets weekly at noon at the Houston Restaurant in Mason.
