Team Ingenuity & Team Horizon Create Yellow Wing Reach Out GroupMason Intermediate sixth graders from Team Ingenuity and Team Horizon made an initiative to collaborate this year, and have formed the Yellow Wing Reach Out Group.

This student-led group researches, organizes, and facilitates community service projects for their teams to participate in throughout the school year. The Yellow Wing Reach Out Group kicked off their first project in October with a fundraiser for the Warren County Animal Shelter.

“We were really excited to raise money for the shelter because we all have a love for animals. We decided to call the fundraiser ‘The Furry Friends Game’ to make it competitive between the homerooms in our wing,” said MI sixth grader Sicilia Eshman.

Together, Team Horizon and Team Ingenuity raised more than $331, as well as additional supplies!

“I learned that people are in need everywhere, so if you can help them in some way, you should. This time, it was the animal shelter who needed help,” added MI sixth grader Jack O’Malley.

The Warren County Animal Shelter was tremendously grateful for the donations, and thanked the students in a letter, stating, “Your success reflects the generosity of Mason Intermediate students, their families and teachers for responding to your heartfelt fundraising message about the needs of our shelter pets.”

The Yellow Wing Reach Out Group looks forward to their upcoming service projects for the Mason community.
