In an effort to recognize the accomplishments and efforts of a community contributor who goes “above and beyond,” the Mason Schools Foundation established the Campbell Family Founder’s Award in honor of Ken and Joan Campbell — whose generosity, innovation and vision led to the creation of the Mason Schools Foundation. Three community members were nominated for the prestigious award, which was presented to award recipient Greg Scheid during the Mason Schools Foundation "Groovy Gala" on November 7. All of the nominees were honored for their enormous contributions on behalf of Mason City Schools students.
2015 Award Recipient
Greg Scheid, Vice President and General Manager Kings Island
About Greg: As a parent, business director and community member, Greg has gone the extra mile to promote excellence in our schools. In addition to Greg leading the way for Kings Island to be a significant financial supporter of the Foundation and its Reading Challenge and Gala, Greg has set the bar for how to be a leader for giving back and helping to grow a thriving community. Kings Island’s own unique direct grant contributions (park passes, enrichment activities) help level the playing field for disadvantaged students. Kings Island supports many local charities relating to children and education. Greg and Kings Island have stepped up to our community, and to the Foundation in particular, and have become true partners in contributing to taking our children above and beyond. He sets a wonderful example for local businesses for how to support and engage with the public schools. We are indeed fortunate to have him as our partner.
