Shaun BevanThe Mason City School District’s leadership team will soon have an important new addition.

During its September 12 meeting, the Mason City Schools Board of Education hired Shaun Bevan as the district’s chief financial officer. Bevan replaces Ronda Johnson, who was hired last month as the Wyoming Schools Treasurer.

Bevan, who comes to Mason City Schools with more than 17 years of financial and organizational experience, currently serves as treasurer of Kings Local Schools.

Mason City Schools board president Matt Steele said he believes Bevan will continue Johnson’s solid fiscal management, while using the experience and knowledge he’s gained through working in other Warren County school districts to help the district keep growing greatness together.
“We are thrilled to welcome Shaun to the team. We’re confident that he will hit the ground running because he has deep ties to the community, and has already built strong relationships with Mason and Deerfield Township business leaders and government officials.  We so appreciate that Shaun has a heart for education and doing what’s best for our learners and educators,” said Steele.
Bevan is excited to focus on the needs of Mason’s over 10,000 students, nearly 1,100 staffers, and community.

“Mason Schools has a well known and well earned reputation for providing high quality educational opportunities for kids at a cost effective price, and I feel very fortunate to be joining such a fantastic school district and team,” said Bevan.

Bevan looks forward to meeting the district’s employees and families, and deepening his partnership with local elected officials and business leaders.

“Mason has clearly demonstrated outstanding financial leadership through its strong commitment to financial stewardship.  My goal as Treasurer is to work collaboratively with the district team as well as the community to continue building on this foundation of excellence that has been established,” Bevan said.

Bevan’s annual salary will be $147,500 a year.
