Sometimes all a child really needs is an adult who takes an hour a week to say, “I’m here for you.”
The Mason Mentoring Program has for 18 years helped ensure that Mason City Schools' students are matched with an adult - 21 years old or older - for one hour each week to help provide that type of reassurance. Mentors serve as an additional, caring adult in these students’ lives.
Mentors are needed for fourth through sixth grade students at Mason Intermediate, and for seventh and eighth grade students at Mason Middle School. Mentors meet with students during the school day and participate in a few after school events throughout the school year.
Those interested in becoming a Mason Middle School Mentor should contact MMS School Counselor, Lindsey Sweat at 398-6012 Ext. 4 or email at email@example.com.
Those interested in becoming a Mason Intermediate School Mentor should contact Big Brothers/Big Sisters at 513-932-2966 or visit www.BBBSwarren.org.
The deadline for applications is October 28.
