MMS Visual Art Students Accepted into State Art Exhibits

Art WinnersMason Middle School ​seventh graders Cynthia Shao ​​and Audrey Theuring have ​had their ​artwork selected to represent the southwest region of Ohio in two state art exhibitions.  

Shao’s artwork will be a part of the 2018 Youth Art Month Art Exhibition. This exhibition includes 135 exemplary works of art by Ohio students from kindergarten through eighth grade.  

“Cynthia's work will represent the southwest region of Ohio during the month of March at our state’s capitol,” shared MMS Art Educator Rita Shriver-Schehr.

A reception will be held at the STRS Building in Columbus ​on  March 3 at 12:30pm in honor of the young artists.

​Theuring’s artwork has been accepted into the 38th Ohio Art Education Association (OAEA) Young People’s Art Exhibition. This is an art exhibition by Ohio students encompassing grades kindergarten through eighth. A reception will be held on March 3 at 11:00am in the Rhodes State Office Tower Building in Columbus.  

“Audrey’s artwork is among only 130 works selected from the nine OAEA regions in Ohio,” added Shriver-Schehr.

The exhibitions are sponsored by the OAEA, the professional organization for art teachers in Ohio. Among its many professional endeavors, the OAEA works to promote art education and recognizes quality student art through various exhibits sponsored during the year.
