Community May Purchase Blankets at Oct. 21 Football Game
Mason Intermediate fifth-graders in Andrea Castner and Maddy Rossetti's classes will sell blankets to Comet football fans during the October 21 game versus Princeton High School in order to raise money for the Dragonfly Foundation of Mason.
"In past years we have partnered with Make-A-Wish, but this year we chose the Dragonfly Foundation in honor of a student on our team who was diagnosed with leukemia on the second day of school. We chose to sell blankets and donate the proceeds to Dragonfly in thanks for how the Foundation helped their family in the last few months, and will probably continue doing so for the next few years," shared Castner.
To make the blankets, students were provided with two pre-cut pieces of fleece, which were purchased and cut by Team Aspire parents. Next, students partnered up, picked out their fabric, measured and cut slits around the edges and tied knots to connect the fabric.
The teachers were proud of what their students accomplished, and are hopeful that the blanket fundraiser will raise enough money to benefit the local Dragonfly Foundation.
“We wanted our students to find a need and fill that need,” Castner said.
