MADE Leaders Create Mural for Community ImpactThe students in Mason High School's #MADEforAuthenticLeaders group, in partnership with the Mason Deerfield Chamber, tackled a community impact project aimed at creating foot traffic in downtown Mason and beautifying the area.

The students came up with a beautiful interactive mural as a way to do that - with butterflies chosen to represent the efforts at the Common Ground Playground. Thanks to MHS students Sophia Haller, Mandy Harper, Grace Koesters, Kevin Tull, Fiona Xie, artist Taylor Kling, and over 300 hours of work, everyone is invited to take their photos with the butterflies and show the community their #WingsOfMason. Even better - consider accepting the #WingsofMasonChallenge by posting your pic & donating to Common Ground!

The MADE for Authentic Leaders program is designed to help Mason High School students discover their authentic leadership. This collaboration with members of the Mason Deerfield Chamber allows Mason students to engage in meaningful conversation and real world experiences that gives students opportunities to learn more about the partnerships that enhance economic development making Mason and Deerfield a strong and dynamic community. Mason Experiential Learning Director Debbie Gentene hopes this partnership will help students develop their professional workplace skills while they're still in high school.

The students are also highly involved in the application process for the leadership group, as it is another way for them to work on leadership skills together.

"They're (students) looking for people who are truly interested in growing as a leader, not necessarily the captain of the team or the president of StuGo," Gentene said. "They may not already be leaders. This is a different kind of interview and a different kind of resume. We don't want to know what all you have already done with leadership, but what are you going to do with what you learned about leadership."
