K-Kids Give Back to the CommunityK-Kids proved once again that it's never too early to start giving back to the community!

K-Kids, a service club affiliated with Mason Kiwanis for fifth and sixth graders at Mason Intermediate, completed more than ten community service projects during this past school year. These projects included a cash drive for the Mason Food Pantry, which raised more than $1400. Students also made fleece blankets for the Interfaith Hospitality Network, and winter themed place mats for senior citizens at Otterbein community.

They also completed projects that benefited their own school by making snowflakes with positive messages to decorate the halls of MI, purchased donuts for teachers and signed a large note, made cards and gave cookies to custodians and cafeteria workers to say thank you, took out teachers' recycling bins as time allowed, held a skating party fundraiser, made Veteran's Day cards, and made flower pens for Kiwanis

"Students submit an application at the beginning of the school year to be included in the club.  Officers were then elected at the second meeting, and for the past two years, KKids advisors worked with Key Club officers/members to run the club," shared MI Reading Intervention Specialist and K-Kids advisor Leslie Molnar.

The K-Kids advisors for the 2016-2017 school year were Joan Davis, Chantele Gilman, Michelle Krugh, and Molnar.
