Drozdz Named Kiwanis Aug. Student of Month
Mason High School senior Sophie Drozdz was recognized as The Kiwanis Club of Mason's August Student of the Month. Sophie was nominated by MHS Psychologist, Jeff Schlaeger, who is her SIBS advisor.
“Sophie has a heart of gold for all students,” shared Schlaeger. “She is a friend and leader to our students with special needs, and tirelessly works to make all MHS students feel comfortable. As our only returning SIBS Board member, Sophie has taken on more of a leadership role and helps thread many of the SIBS’ initiatives and organizational elements," added Schlaeger. "She brings a very unique creativity to what we do and her ability to think outside of the box makes her activities, commitments and teammates all more successful. Her enthusiasm is infectious. She is a true model of what a well-rounded Comet should be."
Drozdz is a two-year SIBS board member and also a leader on the multiple-champion MHS Destination Imagination team. She serves in Student Government while holding down multiple part-time jobs. She hopes to pursue a biomedical engineering degree at Vanderbilt University next fall.
On August 27, the Kiwanis Club presented Drozdz with $50 and a certificate commemorating her achievement. Sophie’s parents, Dennis and Tina Drozdz, Schlaeger, her brother Dillon and Assistant Principal Kevin Mays joined the Kiwanians in recognizing Drozdz’s accomplishments. The Mason Kiwanis Club meets weekly at noon at the Houston Restaurant in Mason.
