Superintendent

Curriculum

This department is responsible for the management and development of K-12 curriculum, the selection and purchasing of textbooks and educational materials, staff development, instructional support, testing and assessments, student achievement, and other curriculum related agendas.

Operations

The Operations Department supports students and staff by overseeing transportation, food service, buildings, grounds, and maintenance. The department oversees construction projects, capital improvement projects in the district such as needed repairs to classrooms or buildings and recommends methods to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of operations.
Treasurer

The Treasurer's Office oversees all of the financial operations of the district, including payroll for 1,300 employees. The Treasurer serves as the Chief Financial Officer and reports directly to the Board of Education.
Student Services

The Mason City School District values each learner’s uniqueness and potential. Educators in our school district are committed to joining parents in understanding and supporting learners. Presently, our school system supports more than 700 students who have been determined eligible for special education support services.

Technology

Our purpose is to "engage" students on many levels to become life long learners. Mason City Schools has one of the fastest school networks in Ohio. Supporting over 3,900 classroom computers; with Audio/Video Systems and/or Smartboards in over 300 classrooms. There are 2.6 students per computer in the district. The district provides many web-based services such as individual teacher pages for posting of work assignments, grades, and other class information and on-line course requesting for high school students.
Human Resources

The Human Resource Department supports certified, classified and administrative staff by filling vacant position, conducting new employee orientations to provide district benefits information, providing blood bourne pathogen training, as well as Hepatitis B vaccinations and flu shots.

Public Information Office

The Public Information Office is responsible for keeping the community informed and involved in our schools by producing district publications, maintaining the district website, and answering media requests.

 

Enrichment

Mason City Schools is committed to having every one of our students participate in an extracurriculuar or co-curriculuar activity. We believe enrichment opportunities prepare our students for the future by giving them the change to improve their social skills and self confidence, explore leadership opportunities and develop new skills and interests.

Health Services

The Mason City Schools Health Services staff is committed to meeting the daily health care needs of students as well as the educational and long term care needs associated with chronic illness in children. It is our goal to be a resource to parents and a partner to health care providers in our community. We function as advocates for students in the educational setting, focusing attention on students’ physical health and wellness, as well as their mental, social and emotional well-being.

Gifted Services

Mason City Schools believes that a differentiated curriculum is the best way to meet the educational needs of  all students. In addition, there are many gifted children who perform at very high levels and need specialized services. These services vary by grade level and specific gifted identifications may be necessary for participation.
