2021-2022 Kindergarten Registration Information 

Due to COVID restrictions this year, our pre-registration meeting for kindergarten 2021-2022 will be a Zoom meeting. The presentation will be offered at 2 different times: February 24 at 9:30am and February 24 at 6:00pm. You will be able to join the presentation using the following link at the designated times.
Registration packets will be available for pick-up at the Mason Early Childhood Center at 4631 Hickory Woods Drive or at our Central Registration Office at 211 North East Street beginning February 25. At that time the packet will also be available to download and print from the 2021-22 Kindergarten Interest Survey form.
Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year will be ½ day programming with AM hours 9:20am - 12:05pm and PM hours 1:05pm - 3:50pm.
Your child’s session is determined by the address of your residence. The finalized street listing will be posted on our website. Bus pickup and drop off times will not be available until late July. Students must be 5 years of age on or before September 30 to be eligible for Kindergarten.
If you are coordinating residential private child care, you will need to stay within your residential assigned session for your child to receive Mason bus service both to and from school.  If a session change is desired, you will find this form on our website. Click on the “Newcomer” star, then “Kindergarten Registration”. You will find the form in the left column. Session changes will be granted, by the principal, only if enrollment numbers allow. Your child’s transportation may be affected as a result of a session change.  Please keep this in mind as you arrange care for your child.

Most public daycare centers within the Mason City School limits receive bus service for both sessions. However, please be aware that some daycares may be assigned a specific session due to their location.  This information will be available on the street listing guide.

Kindergarten registration packet drop off will be held at the MECC main entrance on the following dates:

Wednesday, March 17 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Tuesday, March 23 6:00pm - 8:00pm

At this time, completed packets will be returned along with COPIES of the following required documents:

  • Proof of residency  (lease, deed, settlement statement) or see ** below.

  • Child’s original birth certificate or passport

  • Parent/Guardian driver’s license or state issued ID card

  • Current Immunization Record

  • Court Documents (if applicable), i.e.  Custody, Shared parenting

**If building, or purchase  is pending, form MCS-308 is also required.  Your closing date must be within 90 days of the start of school. 
If parent/guardian's name does not appear on the residency documents, the person whose name does appear must fill out Affidavit II and provide a copy of their driver's license along with proof of residency.

Please note:
at this time we are accepting copies of documents, however should the need arise for the original at a later date we will contact you.  We are also waiving the requirement for a notarized signature on the affidavit forms.

The Central Registration Office is currently closed for all in-person appointments. We are continuing to enroll students and accepting completed packets for the current school year only via U.S. Mail to:
